Vendor Managed Inventory, or VMI, should not be confused with Distributor Managed Inventory. VMI is when your vendor manages your inventory. Distributor Managed Inventory is when you manage your customer's inventory. In SX.enterprise, we automate VMI using EDI. This enables SX.enterprise to communicate with your vendors with minimal human intervention. |

Why VMI?
If your vendor is able to rollup their customer's demand they are better able to plan their production, and you, as their customer, encounter fewer short ships. The electronic communication helps eliminate errors, and you can receive quickly because the vendor can populate your purchase order based on what they are actually shipping.
Features Include:
- Ability to mark a product at a warehouse level as VMI controlled
- automatically pulls it off the Buyer's Control Center
- Send EDI 852 inventory activity information to your vendor
- and creates the purchase order (with no lines)
- Receive EDI 853 from your vendor
- updates the purchase order created by 852
- moves the stage to acknowledged
